October 21, 2015 - The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) has announced the Silver Award winners for the 27th annual Awards of Excellence, a premier industry event honouring the region’s construction leaders.

LMS Reinforcing Steel Group's effort on the Richardson Grain Silo Project has been shortlisted as a Silver award winner in the Trade Contractor ($3 million plus) category.  The Gold Award winner will be announced on October 21, 2015.

About the Richardson Grain Silo Project:  Located in North Vancouver, the Richardson Grain Silo project consisted of the construction of 2 silos, each with 14 cells using slip form construction over the course of 18 months.  LMS’s scope of work consisted of the supply and installation of rebar for the foundations, silo slip walls, roof and mezzanine.  During the slip work, the structure rose by 1 inch every 6 minutes (on average) as rebar was placed while concrete was poured continuously until the structure was complete.  Our crew of 120 installers worked 24 hours a day for eight straight days on the construction of the 14 cells of the new grain silo.  In total, we constructed 2 silos, both with 14 cells, each required an 8 day continuous pour.
